Food and beverage

Our café offers light dishes, coffee/tea, cake and ice cream. Pls. note the openinghours for the café:

It is possible to buy coffee, tea, cake, ice cream, and beverages in the shop located next to the ticket office

You can bring Your own food

You can bring and enjoy your own food and drink in the outdoor areas and indoors in Kalkværket.

Guides

You can meet our guides all over the area on weekends, public holidays and school holidays.

How to dress

It is only 8 degrees and a humidity of 98% in the mines. So remember to bring a warm sweater. It is also a good idea to wear practical and non-slip footwear, as it can be slippery on some paths in the pits.

Smoking

The beautiful nature area around Mønsted Kalkgruber e is non-smoking. 
There are two designated smoking areas. You can see the location on the overview map (link).

Dogs

You are allowed to bring your dog on a leash.

Please note that dogs are not allowed to enter the Café. Admission for dogs - regardless of size DKK 10.

Accessiblity

Mønsted Kalkgrubver are accessible to everyone including wheelchairs. The area has wide, concrete paths both around the site and inside the pits. Toilets for disabled are available at the ticket office, Kalkværket, and in the café.

There is also disabled parking available closest to the entrance. We have three wheelchairs available for free loan upon request at the ticket office. These are given on a first-come, first-served basis.

We accept companion cards, meaning the attendant accompanying a disabled visitor can enter for free.
