Our café offers light dishes, coffee/tea, cake and ice cream. Pls. note the openinghours for the café:

It is possible to buy coffee, tea, cake, ice cream, and beverages in the shop located next to the ticket office
Food - You can bring your own
You can bring and enjoy your own food and drink in the outdoor areas and indoors in Kalkværket.
Guides
You can meet our guides all over the area on weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
Accessiblity
Mønsted Kalkgrubver are accessible to everyone including wheelchairs. The area has wide, concrete paths both around the site and inside the pits. Toilets for disabled are available at the ticket office, Kalkværket, and in the café.
There is also disabled parking available closest to the entrance. We have three wheelchairs available for free loan upon request at the ticket office. These are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
We accept companion cards, meaning the attendant accompanying a disabled visitor can enter for free.
Dogs
You are allowed to bring your dog on a leash.
Please note that dogs are not allowed to enter the Café. Admission for dogs - regardless of size DKK 10.
How to dress
It is only 8 degrees and a humidity of 98% in the mines. So remember to bring a warm sweater. It is also a good idea to wear practical and non-slip footwear, as it can be slippery on some paths in the pits.
Programme
You can meet our area guides at selected spots, where they will tell you about the mines, the bats, and the industrial history of Mønsted Limestone Mines.
NOTE: These are not guided tours, but short talks lasting approx. 10–15 minutes.

The Lime Works
Visit the Lime Works, where lime was burned until 1980. Here you will gain insight into how working with lime – both above and below ground – was tough, raw, and physically demanding for both men and women.
Learn about bats
With the activity booklet “On the Trail”, you will learn more about bats while exploring the entire area and answering questions about these fascinating mammals.
The Nature Trail
Learn more about the Natura 2000 area. Discover sinkholes and a unique natural landscape with fantastic viewpoints overlooking the former open limestone quarry, which is now a beautiful lake.
Creative activities in the Lime Works
Paint with lime on the large board and take photos of the whole family as lime workers.
Audio stories
Listen to the 7 audio stations in the Lime Works and get small glimpses of the past: walls being whitewashed, lime being weighed, lime being filled into sacks, and more.
The Story Room
Visit the Story Room in the Lime Works and experience a full day in a village – where lime is a central theme.
The Playground
A beautiful playground where children can climb on the five bat species that hibernate in the mines.
The Bat Exhibition
Visit our bat exhibition in the visitor centre.

Smoking
The beautiful nature area around Mønsted Kalkgruber e is non-smoking.
